Get the gold standard in mid-scale vermicomposting equipment!
The Michigan SoilWorks CFT is a commercial-scale continuous flow vermicomposting system and is the *only* modular system on the market.
The modular design allows you to buy the CFT you need now with the ability to add modules in the future. Each module is approximately 8 feet long and the Michigan SoilWorks CFT can be anywhere from a single module to a 5-module 40-footer!
Expect roughly 50 gallons of vermicompost, per module, per week.
The CFT comes in anywhere from one to five 8-foot modules and can come with a DC motor or a manual winch. Contact us for your desired configuration if you don't see it listed on this page.

Efficiency
Feeding from the top and harvesting from the bottom keeps the worms and microbes undisturbed and working hard for you
Scalability
Need to grow? There's no need to buy a new CFT. You can add modules later and save the money now.
Predictability
Continuous flow allows you to maintain environmental conditions like temperature and humidity more easily than ground-based systems like windrows
Your shipment will be delivered by less-than-truckload (LTL) freight. The freight will arrive on one or more over-sized pallets
We'll need your delivery address and whether or not you need a liftgate for offload.
You'll pay 50% of the product cost up front and pay the balance plus freight before shipment.
You can expect anywhere from a 2-5 week lead time for most orders.
We produced around 40 to 50 gallons of unscreened vermicompost, per module, per week. The amount of screened vermicompost you can produce depends on the particle size of your vermicompost and how finely you can screen it. Most customers expect worm castings to be screened to 1/8th of an inch. Your screened volume will likely double if you screen to 1/4-in but your castings will include more coarse material, plus some worms and cocoons.
We recommend purchasing around 25 lbs per module which will give you a little more than 1/2lb per square foot of stocking density
No. If liquid drips from the bottom of your CFT, this is called leachate and is an undesirable byproduct of vermicomposting, especially in a CFT. Overly wet conditions that produce leachate will create anaerobic pockets in your vermicompost and will give you a very difficult, compacted harvest with lots of worms. A worm-rich harvest defeats the point of continuous flow vermicomposters.
While any healthy vermicomposting system should provide excellent conditions for reproduction, the Michigan SoilWorks CFT is designed for vermicomposting rather than vermiculture. Optimal worm breeding conditions tend to be wetter than optimal vermicomposting conditions.
The startup schedule for a Michigan SoilWorks CFT is about 20 weeks from startup to acheiving saleable worm castings.
Moisture
Continuous flow systems work best with very moderate moisture levels of no greater than 70% water content.
Harvests at 60% water content are much less compacted and feature few - if any - worms.
Particle Size
For best results, ensure your carbon source has particle sizes of 2 inches in length, preferably less.
Large particle sizes can create compaction and hamper the cutting bar's movement.
Good Record Keeping
We created a log of feedings, temperature measurements and harvests to dial in on the best production.
We recommend you do the same!
